12 Wines of Christmas WINE #2

The next big reveal is Wine #2, our ever popular Tragically Vidal 2023! This new vintage is a pre-release exclusive to this advent. Perfumed notes of apple blossom and honeysuckle mingle with tropical and orchard fruit; like walking through an Okanagan orchard in the middle of August. The finish goes on and on, with the bright acidity and gentle nudge of residual sugar in beautiful harmony - making it a wonderful wine to match up with more spicy foods like Keira's Hot Honey Chicken Wings using our tasty new Stag's Hollow Hot Sauce.

Why you ask, is this lovely wine called 'Tragically Vidal'? Overlooked because it lacks noble breeding, devoured by deer and birds who think they have died and gone to heaven, this grape has had a hard time surviving in the Okanagan. At Stag's Hollow we have nurtured this grape, allowing it to thrive and express its true class. Happy Saturday sipping!
 

12 Wines of Christmas WINE #1

Welcome to our first day of our 12 Wines of Christmas countdown! Over the next twelve days we will reveal a new wine each day paired with our winery family's favourite holiday activities, as part of our wine advent. We invite everyone to join in on the fun with us. Almost every bottle has a surprise attached to it, so be sure to watch for this and pull out each wine carefully.

Let's get the holidays rolling with Advent Wine #1, our newly released Dolcetto 2022! Dolcetto is a grape that consistently inspires experimentation and excitement, with every new vintage. This Italian varietal was planted in 2012 at our Shuttleworth Creek Vineyard and our first vintage was harvested in 2015. Dolcetto features bright flavours of sour cherries, Italian prune, plums, blueberry pie and bramble mingle with more masculine notes of earth, dried violets, spice and savoury botanicals.

With its deliciously soft tannins and vibrantly expressive grape character, Dolcetto is the perfect accompaniment to pizza, charcuterie, pasta, spaghetti & meatballs, and many more Italian-inspired dishes. We are lucky to have our friend and sommelier, Ron Rocher (@vinetowinebc), work with us again over the next few months, offering his extensive industry knowledge and passion for local wine to our guests looking for a more elevated tasting experience. Ron is a big supporter of our small, family-owned winery, and we love the energy and humour he brings to Stag's Hollow when he is here!

We are offering a few sessions (11am, 1pm and 3pm) with Ron every Sunday to start off the season at $20 per person.

Crack the Christmas cracker! You've made it to Wine Reveal #12, a library wine we pulled out exclusively for this year's countdown, our 2017 Renaissance Merlot! Now you have the rare chance to try both Merlot's side-by-side and tell us about the differences you taste in each wine - who's up for the vertical challenge? We would love to hear from you in the comments.The holidays are all about spending time with family and friends so a fun fondue is a great way to bring everyone together to enjoy a meal this time of year. We've included our winemaker's favourite cheese fondue recipe to make from scratch and pair along with our Merlot for that epic fondue experience. RECIPE HERE.
