Production Notes
Hand-picked and hand-sorted lots of Syrah were destemmed, left as whole berry uncrushed and fermented in one 5-ton and 2 1-ton open-topped fermenters using a combination of both wild and selected yeast strains. The ferment was punched down by hand and pumped over 2-4 times daily and then after 15 days of skin contact was pressed into French oak barrels. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged for an additional 14 months on fine lees before being blended together and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Winemaker Notes
Our 2016 Amalia Vineyard Syrah is slightly more feminine and delicate in style than the previous vintage. The lifted aromatics (floral and garrigue) of this wine add a touch of elegance to its structured and complex flavour profile.
