Tasting Notes

Darkest purple in color it has aromas of brambly, ripe blackberries, mixed with notes of smoky bacon fat, and a touch of sweet jasmine flowers. The palate is big, multilayered, with ripe flavours of blackberries, spicy smoked meat, and a rustic, earthy tannin structure. Inspired by and similar in style to a great vintage wine from the Rhone region of Saint-Joseph, but it’s creation was conceived in a 100% Okanagan style.

Quotes

Globe & Mail - Beppi Crosariol - "This Syrah has the power and spicy complexity of its counterparts from the Rhone Valley. A bold red that reminds me of the muscular Cote Roties of France's northern Rhone Valley.

John Shreiner-"The wine is rich and full-bodied, with gamy smoked meat flavours along with blackberries and pepper. It has a generous, satisfying finish." 90 points

Daenna Van Mulligen-Wine Diva-Wine Scores- "9% Viognier co-fermented in and it brings a juicy, floral, pretty lift to this Syrah. The colour is a bright purplish-hue, the aromas are crushed dark flowers, orange peel and purple berries with a pinch of pepper. The palate is silky, the acidity lifts the berry fruits and it finishes with a dusty, earthy texture and flavours of bittersweet chocolate. Elegant with great fruit and a much appreciated dose of acidity!"

Wine Press Northwest magazine-Excellent: British Columbia's Corkscrew Trail is producing some of the province's top wines, and this classy tasting room is excelling with Rhone varieties. Co-fermented with 9% Viognier helps bring out big boysenberry aromas with gamy meat, gunmetal and alder smoke. Very juicy is the entry with more boysenberry and sweet blueberry, making for a lighter styled Syrah with racy acidity, backed down slightly by a finish of Belgian chocolate.
